Tattoo

Ok I'm thinking of getting another tattoo. I really wasn't pleased with the first one I got which was a cartoon character. It's on my upper arm and coverd most of the time. Doesn't looks as cool now as it did then. :/

This one I want on my forearm, so I want it to look cool. I'm really undecided on what it should be though. Here are some thoughts.

A cross. Something religious. Maybe something like "In God I Trust" on it or something.

Bionic like tearing skin showing muscle veins underneath.

My sons name is Drake which means dragon. I was thinking some dragon and then under the tail his name but still able to make out what it says.

A panther?

What are the prices now a days? When I got mine it was 45 bucks. About 3 by 4 inches. Depending on what I get, probally the dragon, it will be 4 inches across and 6 inches or so long.

As long as it has meaning to you/others, it's fine :)

I don't like the muscle/vein idea though. IMO Dragons are overdone, but at least yours has meaning behind it... maybe come up with an original design for the dragon, or something abstract that can be taken as a dragon.

definately get something that has meaning to you and you alone. And make it original.

Drawing it yourself is teh best way to go about that.

I would definately avoid the veins/muscle idea. Everyone and there dog has one of those. Dragons are highly overdone because everyone uses text book drawings adn they all look the same. With yours it sounds like you have an idea already, and it has 2 things going for it.

1) It has a personal meaning
2) you have an image of it in your head already that makes it original to you. :)

I refuse to get tattoos that have no meaning, and that are from a pre-made picture that is hanging on the wall in the studio. Both of mine were hand drawn by the guys that did the work. One of them I am going to get covered up because I am not happy with how it turned out.... and I haven't been happy with it for over 10 years now.

Usually what I do is go into the studio about 2 weeks before I plan on getting it done to see what there prices are like. AT this point I have a hand drawn sketch of what I want it to resemble. I leave that with the tattoo artist adn tell him I will be back in 2 weeks to get it done. When I go back and I am happy with it, I get it done. :)

As far as exactly what to get.... we can give you ideas all we want but it has to be something meaningful to YOU.

Actually - I agree with the others... if I were to get a tatoo (which I wouldn't), personal meaning would be the most important thing. Just be certain that its what you really want... otherwise you maybe looking at it down the road - thinkin the same thing as the cartoon one.

I'd love to get a tatoo, god they're badass, but 10 years from now what am I gonna do with it? 20? I can't think of anything meaningful enough to ink on my body. Maybe someday down the road...who knows? I'd do something about my kids or something religious. not much more important than that....unless you get yourself boning two chicks on your arm.

I have 9 tats and I can tell ya that the most inportant thing has already been said by LW. It should definately be something with personal meaning to you, and if at all possible, draw it yourself. I made a few mistakes with mine and now I have alot of coverups to do :(
