This sounds delicious. Let me know where I can contribute. Unfortunately my coding time is split between my two coding jobs and school, so as soon as school gets out and my first project is delivered(May 15th) I should have some time to build some superfly PHP madness for all who need it.

As for the site, I think if we want to be community oriented we need someone within the commmunity to be extremely dedicated to providing fresh content. A fancy site will be nice for us, but it will generate life on it's own, regardless of functionality, if someone is there to back it up with fresh content.

my two cents. Can we get some prOn of the day too?!

what's the word on this morrrrgo??! Think you can get together with rage and whip up a main site?

I actually thought about this this weekend.

I'm not the best graphic designer in the world. All of the sites I've ever made in college have been very functionality based and not pretty, for example - I did a real estate invoice database and a workout builder thing for the training coaches for the UT basketball team. So someone tell me what they want as far as functionality and gimme some recourses and i'll do it, and I'll leave the rest up to you

I thought I'd chip in my 2 cents, and suggest you consider a pre-built CMS. Myself, I'm doing some heavy research into Joomla!, and even went so far as to buy a book on it. I'm still continuing development on my own CMS as well, but I see Joomla! as a way to get a site up and running quickly...so you can plug in some content.

Oh, I've also abandoned development on the SMF forum (which is what this is), as I found a better board. I did an install and custom theme for it for a client, and it struck me after I was done, how much it looked like the old nLv theme for phpBB. Feel free to have a peek:

I *might* be willing to convert you guys over to myBBoard if you were interested, but there's a catch. There's no way to convert from SMF to myBB, so I'd have to convert the older phpBB over to a new myBB install. It's got all the same, and MORE features on it than SMF does, and is WAY easier to customize. That would mean losing any new posts/content since my original conversion of the old phpBB to this SMF forum.

Anyway, just a thought.

You could check some CMS things out here: http://www.opensourcecms.com/

They have some installs and let you play with them to see what we'd need.
